Clearing out a family member's home is hard enough without hauling trips to the transfer station. We drop a dumpster in the driveway and let the family work through it at their own pace.
An estate cleanout is different from every other job we haul for, and we try to treat it that way. It's not a contractor clearing debris on a deadline — it's usually a family, often coming in from out of town, working through a house near downtown or one of the older neighborhoods around WKU that's been lived in for thirty or forty years. There's furniture that's too worn to donate, decades of belongings in the attic and garage, and sometimes items nobody in the family wants but somebody still needs to make a decision about. We size the dumpster for the volume, but we build in room on the timeline, because that part of the job usually can't be rushed.
| Home Size | Recommended Size | Typical Price |
|---|---|---|
| 1–2 bedroom, partly cleared | 20 Yard | $325 – $450 |
| 3–4 bedroom, fully furnished | 30 Yard | $375 – $525 |
| Large home with garage/basement | 40 Yard | $425 – $600 |
These are starting points, not a quote — the number of rooms and how much has already been sorted matters most. Call and describe the home and we'll size it right the first time. Full details in our dumpster sizes guide and pricing guide.
Most whole-house cleanouts around Bowling Green need a 30 yard dumpster, which handles a fully furnished 3-4 bedroom home. A smaller single-story home or one that's already been partly cleared can often get by with a 20 yard. If the home has a garage, basement, or attic full of decades of belongings on top of the main living space, we'll usually recommend the 40 yard.
Yes, for the most part. Furniture, mattresses, box springs, and non-refrigerant appliances like stoves and washers can all go in together. Refrigerators, freezers, and window AC units need to be handled separately because of refrigerant, and we can tell you the extra fee for those upfront so it's not a surprise. See our accepted materials guide for the full list.
Our standard rental is 10 to 14 days, which covers most estate cleanouts, but we know these jobs don't always move on a tight schedule, especially with family members coming from out of town or sorting through what to keep. Extensions are easy to arrange, and we'll work with your timeline rather than rush you.
That's normal, and it's fine. A lot of estate cleanouts happen in stages, where the family takes what they want to keep first and the dumpster handles everything left over. Keep the container as long as you need for that sorting process, and call if the timeline changes — we'd rather adjust the rental than have you feel rushed through a hard process.
No, not if the dumpster sits in the driveway or on private property, which covers the vast majority of estate cleanouts. If the home doesn't have driveway space and the container has to go on the street, that needs a City of Bowling Green right-of-way permit, which we file on your behalf.
Tell us the home size and what's left inside, and we'll get you a container sized right and set up on your timeline.
